List every site and say which are in Chukai and which are elsewhere in the district. For any workplace, ask about induction, escorts, protective equipment and camera approval. Agree a shot brief and name who reviews images before release. We confirm the plan, crew and deliverables in writing.
Chukai is the district seat and main economic centre of Kemaman, close to the Terengganu and Pahang border, according to Wikipedia. The wider district includes Kerteh, Kijal, Kemasik and a long stretch of coast. Wikipedia says its economy is based mainly on petroleum, oil and steel, and that Kemaman Port handles an LPG export terminal.
This page is for a business or community buyer who needs to separate ordinary event coverage from a controlled workplace assignment. For the state overview, see event photography in Terengganu.
Chukai and Kemaman are not the same place
Chukai is a town. Kemaman is a district of about 2,500 square kilometres. A coastal stretch of about 38 km runs from Kuala Kemaman to Kerteh, according to Wikipedia. An enquiry that says "Kemaman" could mean a hall in the town, a site in Kerteh or a beach near Kemasik.
We combine the district and its main town on one page, but we do not assume access is the same everywhere. Give us the address of each site, and we plan the travel between them. Our guide to confirming the exact venue before requesting a quote explains why.
Ordinary event or controlled workplace?
A company dinner at a hotel or a community hall event follows the usual routine. A visit to an operating site does not.
| Feature | Ordinary event | Controlled workplace |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Open to guests | Approved names, pass or escort |
| Safety | Venue rules | Induction, protective equipment |
| What may be photographed | Mostly open | Restricted areas, screens, documents |
| Release | Host decides | Site or client approval |
| Timing | Programme | Site operations and access windows |
Tell us honestly which one you have. Both are possible. The second needs more preparation.
Site rules to confirm
Do not assume. Ask the access sponsor at each site:
- Does the site require induction or a safety briefing? How long does it take, and when?
- Is an escort required?
- Is protective equipment needed, and who supplies it?
- Which areas, equipment, screens and documents are restricted?
- Is camera approval needed for the proposed images?
- Where can the crew wait and store equipment?
Send us the answers in writing. We do not state any site's policy. The venue photography checklist helps you ask, and the venue-access change and recheck tracker records changes between the first answer and the day.
A shot brief that the site approves
A written shot brief avoids surprises. List the pictures you need: people at work, a ceremony, a group in front of a banner, a handshake. Mark what must not appear. Ask the site to review it before the day. Our guide to briefing a photographer when surprise moments must remain confidential and the one on embargoes and photographs restricted from publication cover related situations.
Who reviews photographs before release?
Images of people, operations or client information may need approval before anyone sees them. Name the reviewer and the turnaround you expect. Our guide to image approval across marketing, agencies and leadership shows how to avoid delay, and the corporate photography deliverables planner helps you plan what you will need.
An example scenario
For example, a supplier hosts a customer visit for fifteen guests at a facility in the Kemaman district, followed by dinner in Chukai. The supplier's communications team sends a visitor form and a list of three areas that must not appear. An escort will join the crew, and induction takes place at the gate an hour before the visit.
The team agrees a shot brief that covers the welcome, the tour and a signing. The dinner is photographed in the usual way. The communications team reviews the tour set before release, and the dinner set goes to the host. We confirm the plan, crew and deliverables in writing.

Scope photography for our Kemaman eventCommon questions
Is Chukai the same as Kemaman?
Chukai is the district seat and main town. Kemaman is the district and includes other places, such as Kerteh and Kijal. We do not treat them as aliases. Tell us the exact address, and we plan from that.
Do photographers need induction at a workplace?
Often yes. Many sites require a safety briefing, an escort, a pass or protective equipment before a visitor enters. Ask the site contact for the exact requirement and its timing, and send it to us in writing.
What can and cannot be photographed on site?
Only the site can say. Ask for a list of restricted areas, equipment, documents and screens, and agree a shot brief before the day. We frame pictures with that list in mind.
Who reviews photographs before public release?
Name one person or office, such as a communications or client team. Without a named approver, images that show people, operations or client information can be held up. Tell us who reviews and how quickly.
Can we use the pictures on social media or for a client?
Only as far as the site and your agreement allow. Tell us where the pictures will go and who approves. Our guide to business use of event photographs explains the options.

Scope photography for our Kemaman event
Send us all the sites, the access sponsor, the induction time, restricted subjects, crew requirements and who approves publication. We will outline what is realistic and confirm it in writing.
What happens next: You send your event details on WhatsApp. Our team reads the brief, asks what is missing, then confirms in writing whether the date, venue and coverage can be booked, with a quotation. Opening WhatsApp does not send anything, and a message is not a booking until both sides confirm.
