Adult birthdays and milestones

Wedding-anniversary celebration photography

You are celebrating years together, and you want photographs shaped by your life now, not a copy of your wedding day.

Short answer

An anniversary is not a second wedding, so the plan should start with the couple, the guests and what you have chosen to do. List the people who matter, the tributes or speeches planned, and any moment that echoes your wedding. We propose a window that suits that, and we confirm the details in writing.

An anniversary party can be a dinner for two, a lunch with the children or a hall full of friends. Whatever it is, it differs from a wedding. The couple has years of shared life, the guests know both partners well and there is no single ceremony at the centre. This page explains how to plan photography that reflects that. It sits within our guide to adult milestone-event photography.

What is the anniversary actually like?

Describe the event. Who is coming? What is planned? Is there a meal, a speech, a slideshow, a cake or a song? Is the couple the centre or is the event shared with family?

A silver or golden anniversary may feel formal, while a tenth may be a barbecue in the garden. Do not choose coverage by the number. Choose it by the programme. Our page on adult birthday-party photography takes the same view of birthdays.

Which relationships matter?

The couple, their children, the wider family and old friends all have a place. Ask the couple who should appear in group photographs. Mark who has travelled and who may leave early.

For example, imagine a twenty-fifth anniversary lunch for 50 people. The couple wants a photograph with their two children, one with their siblings and parents, and one with their closest friends. They also want a portrait of the two of them in the garden. We plan these for the hour before lunch, when everyone has just arrived.

The group photograph planner helps with the order.

What tributes and moments will there be?

Speeches, toasts, slideshows, letters and songs are common at anniversaries. Tell us when each happens and who delivers it. The priority photograph list builder helps rank them. Our guide to must-have moments and flexible photographic storytelling explains why a short list works.

If the tribute or toast is a surprise for the couple, see a surprise anniversary gathering. If the couple plans to repeat vows, see anniversary celebration with a vow-renewal element.

Should the photographs echo the wedding?

Some couples like to mirror their wedding photographs, with the same pose, the same flowers or the same location. Others prefer a fresh look. Bring a wedding photograph if you want to echo it. You can show us the style you like with the photography style preference brief.

We do not assume a wedding-style session. If you want a portrait of the couple, we plan a place and a quiet few minutes.

How is it different from a wedding?

A wedding has a ceremony, a fixed order and many guests who may not know each other. Our guide to wedding preparation and portrait photography covers that world. An anniversary is more flexible. People stay longer, stories are told and the tone is warmer and less formal. Coverage windows are often shorter, and the photographer works more quietly.

How are the photographs shared?

Decide before the day who receives the gallery. Many couples share a link with the family and a smaller set with the wider guest list. Tell us if any guest prefers not to appear. Your quotation states the delivery timeline in writing.

What do you need to decide before the quotation?

Settle three things. First, the length of coverage: arrival to cake is often enough. Second, whether a couple portrait is wanted and where it will be taken. Third, whether the gallery goes to the whole guest list or only to family. These three choices shape the hours, the crew and the delivery. If you are unsure about any, tell us, and we will lay out the options with the trade-offs so you can decide calmly.

What we do next

We read your plan, ask what is missing and propose a coverage window, crew and deliverables. We confirm the date, venue, crew and quotation in writing.

Common questions

How is anniversary photography different from wedding photography?

The people, the pace and the purpose differ. An anniversary usually has fewer ritual moments, more time with family and friends and a stronger focus on the couple together. We plan from your programme and do not apply a wedding package.

Can we recreate parts of our wedding photographs?

Yes, if you wish. Some couples ask for a portrait in the same pose, with the same people or in a similar place. Bring a wedding photograph to show us what you mean, and we tell you what is realistic.

Should the children and grandchildren be in the photographs?

If the couple wants them. Many anniversary photographs centre on the family that grew from the marriage. Tell us who should be in the group photographs and when they are present.

Do we need a long booking?

Not usually. Many anniversary dinners are well covered from arrival to the toast and cake, with a group photograph. Longer events with a tribute and entertainment need longer coverage.

Can the couple have a portrait session separate from the party?

Yes, as an addition. A short portrait session before or after the party gives the couple time without guests. Tell us if you want it, and we plan a quiet moment and place.

Plan photography for our anniversary

Send us the anniversary year, the date and venue, who is coming and the moments the couple most want kept, and we will propose coverage built around them.

What happens next: You send your event details on WhatsApp. Our team reads the brief, asks what is missing, then confirms in writing whether the date, venue and coverage can be booked, with a quotation. Opening WhatsApp does not send anything, and a message is not a booking until both sides confirm.
