Choose your preferences for direction, candid moments, colour and editing. The tool writes a plain-language style brief and a list of useful questions for the photographer you propose to hire. It makes no promise about appearance or automatic changes to anyone's body.
What this tool does
It turns your preferences into a short style brief. You choose how much direction you want, how candid or posed you prefer the pictures, what colour and tone feel right, and how much editing you expect. The tool writes these in plain language and adds questions to ask the photographer.
How to use it
- Choose how much direction you want, from very little to a lot.
- Choose between candid moments and posed portraits, or a mix.
- Choose colour and tone preferences, such as natural, warm or high contrast.
- Choose how much editing you expect, such as light touch or more polished.
- Add notes about people who prefer less attention, if any.
- Press the button and read the brief.
Reading the result
The brief begins with a short summary, followed by each preference and an example question. For instance, if you chose little direction and mostly candid moments, the brief asks how the photographer works without staging, and how they handle a posed group when it is needed. Our guide to candid and directed event photography explains the difference.
If someone dislikes being photographed, the tool prompts you to say so. Our guide to letting participants choose candid coverage over posed portraits shows how to plan for that.
What to do next
Look at the work you like and compare it with the brief. Our photographer portfolio review worksheet helps you check whether a photographer's work matches. Then list must-have shots with the priority photograph list builder so style and content are both clear. You can browse our photography styles and examples as well.
Assumptions and limits
Examples shown in the tool are labelled illustrations. The tool does not promise how anyone will look, and it does not offer automatic body edits. Retouching is a conversation with the photographer, recorded in writing. Your answers stay in your browser unless you choose to send them. For how style relates to venue, see assessing a portfolio for your venue and lighting.
Send us your brief and tell us which examples you like, and we will discuss in writing what suits your event and what we can confirm.
Discuss our style brief with the teamCommon questions
Do I need example images?
They help, but use only examples you are allowed to share, and label them as illustrative. The brief works with words alone.
Can I ask for changes to my body or face?
Think carefully. The tool does not offer automatic body edits. Discuss retouching with the photographer, and agree in writing what will and will not be changed.
What if my partner or family prefers a different style?
Each person can answer separately. The brief shows where you agree and where you differ, so you can decide together before the day.
Is the style guaranteed?
No. Style depends on the light, the venue and the people. The brief states preferences and questions, not promises.
Discuss our style brief with the team
Send us your brief and tell us which examples you like, and we will discuss in writing what suits your event and what we can confirm.
What happens next: You send your event details on WhatsApp. Our team reads the brief, asks what is missing, then confirms in writing whether the date, venue and coverage can be booked, with a quotation. Opening WhatsApp does not send anything, and a message is not a booking until both sides confirm.
