List only the occasions your family is actually holding, then decide for each one whether you want full coverage, a short visit or no photography. Group them into one plan with a single brief, agree how the story should hold together, and ask for a quotation that lists each occasion separately.
Some families hold one ceremony. Others hold several gatherings before and on the wedding day, spread across days and venues. This page helps you decide how to bring them into one photography commission without assuming that any particular occasion is part of every wedding. It is part of our guide to Hindu and Sikh wedding occasions.
Which occasions are yours?
Start with a list of what your family has chosen. Write it in your own words, with a date, venue and time for each. If an occasion is under discussion, mark it as maybe. Some families hold mehndi, haldi, sangeet, nalangu and the wedding itself. Others hold only some of these, or none.
Do not add an occasion because someone said it is customary. We plan for what you hold.
How much coverage does each occasion need?
For each occasion, choose one of three levels:
| Level | What it means | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Full coverage | A defined window with the crew present throughout | The wedding or the gathering that matters most |
| Short visit | A fixed time, for example the opening and a group photograph | A smaller gathering |
| No photography | Family and friends only | A private occasion |
Be honest about what matters. If your family is likely to look back most at the ceremony, give it the longest window. Our coverage hours planner helps you test the hours.
How do you keep it all together?
A multi-day commission has more moving parts: dates, venues, contacts and deliveries. Use one brief for all of it, with a section for each occasion, and name one family contact who sees the whole plan. Our multi-event commission organiser keeps this in one place.
If the plan changes, record it. The scope change log shows what was agreed and when, so that the quotation matches the plan.
An example
For example, imagine a haldi at home on Friday afternoon, a sangeet at a hall on Friday evening and a ceremony on Saturday morning with lunch afterwards. They choose a short visit for the haldi, full coverage for the sangeet and the ceremony, and no photography at the lunch.
We plan the crew's rest between Friday night and Saturday morning. We confirm travel between the home and the hall, and ask the family to name a contact for each venue. The quotation lists three lines, each with its hours and deliverables.
How should the story hold together?
If you want one gallery, tell us the order. If you want separate sets, tell us how to group them. Think about who will see them. Some families send images of one occasion to relatives who attended it. Others want one album covering everything. Our page on selecting a coherent story from several South Asian wedding occasions goes deeper.
What does it do to the cost?
Cost follows hours, crew, travel and deliverables. We do not quote figures here. Our guide to pricing and quotation planning explains how to compare quotations that include several occasions.
What should you ask before accepting a combined quotation?
Check each line against your list. Ask:
- Does the quotation list each occasion with its own date, hours and crew?
- Is travel between venues shown, and who arranges it?
- Which deliverables belong to which occasion?
- What happens if one occasion moves to another day?
- How are extra hours handled if a gathering runs late?
- Who is the family contact for each occasion?
If a line is missing or unclear, ask us to add it before you decide. A quotation you can read line by line is easier to compare and easier to change later.
What we do next
We read your list, ask what is missing and send a quotation with each occasion separate. We confirm dates, venues, crew and delivery in writing.

Plan photography for our wedding eventsCommon questions
Do we need photography at every occasion?
No. Choose the occasions that matter to your family. You may want full coverage of the wedding, a short visit to one gathering and nothing at another. The quotation lists each occasion so you can see what you are choosing.
Can the same photographer cover all of them?
Often yes, if the dates and times allow rest and travel. Tell us the schedule. If two events overlap or the days are too tight, we say so and discuss a second photographer or a change in coverage.
Is it cheaper to book several occasions together?
Ask us whether a combined booking changes the quotation for your dates; we confirm the answer in writing. A single brief saves time on planning, and the quotation sets out each occasion's hours, crew and deliverables, so you can see how the total is built.
How do we keep a consistent style across occasions?
Agree the style and the delivery plan in the brief. Tell us how you want the images edited and grouped, for example by occasion or in one story. We confirm the approach in the quotation.
What if an occasion is added later?
Tell us as soon as you know. We check availability for the new date and issue an updated quotation. Our scope change log helps you record what has changed.
Plan photography for our wedding events
Send us the list of occasions, their dates, venues and times, and which ones matter most, and we will propose a combined plan with each part priced clearly.
What happens next: You send your event details on WhatsApp. Our team reads the brief, asks what is missing, then confirms in writing whether the date, venue and coverage can be booked, with a quotation. Opening WhatsApp does not send anything, and a message is not a booking until both sides confirm.
