Write down the final venues and the route the crew will take. If any part of the route or programme crosses a border, check the current official requirements for that crossing, the people and the equipment. Then set an arrival buffer and a backup plan so the main occasion is protected.
Limbang is a town in northern Sarawak that sits between two parts of Brunei. Sarawak Tourism warns that moving between Limbang and other parts of Sarawak by road will likely cross Brunei, so travellers should carry the required documents. Our Sarawak overview covers the wider state.
This page helps an organiser decide the route before the crew is booked.
Is the assignment entirely local?
Many Limbang events are local: a hall, a school, a community ground or a hotel function room. Sarawak Tourism mentions the Limpaki wetland about 15 km from town and the Meritam mud pools, with the Meritam Mud Festival held around November. If your event connects to any of these, ask the organiser for the exact date and site.
If everything is in Limbang and the crew arrives by air, there may be no border question. If the programme includes Lawas or another town, check the route. Our Lawas page plans that town on its own terms.
Which route will the crew use?
There are two broad options. A flight into Limbang Airport, which the Ministry of Transport lists about 4.8 km from town. Or an overland journey, which may cross Brunei.
| Route | Planning question |
|---|---|
| Flight | Which airline, which day, what baggage allowance for equipment |
| Overland | Which crossings, which documents, what equipment declarations |
| Mixed | Where the crew changes mode and what happens if one leg is late |
Ask suppliers to state the route in the quotation. Our guide to commissions that need domestic air travel covers what to compare, and our outstation planning guide explains how travel is itemised.
What official requirements apply?
If a border is crossed, requirements depend on the traveller, the vehicle, the equipment and the specific crossing. They change over time. Check current sources from the relevant immigration, customs and transport authorities, not a general article.
We do not provide legal or immigration advice and we do not assume that the same arrangement works for every crossing or every traveller. The supplier and the organiser should each check their part.
How much arrival buffer is wise?
The Ministry of Transport lists Limbang Airport's runway at 1,500 metres, with visual landing only, for small turboprops. Small-aircraft services depend on daylight and weather, and a cancellation can leave no same-day alternative.
For a time-critical event, plan an arrival the evening before and name a backup: another flight, another route, or a second photographer if one is available. Agree who decides if the plan changes. Our guide to plans that go wrong describes the backup options.
Who should the organiser ask locally?
Ask the venue manager or school office about loading, power and parking. For community grounds, ask the committee that runs the site. For the airport, the operator and the airline publish schedules and baggage rules, and the Ministry of Transport page lists the airport's basic facilities, including a lounge, shops and a prayer room. If guests will also travel in, tell them the same arrival advice you give the crew.
Keep one local contact reachable by phone on the day, ideally someone who is not busy running the event. They can meet the crew, pass messages and answer questions about gates, rooms and timings.
An example
For example, imagine a school prize-giving at 9:00 on a Saturday in Limbang, with 250 guests.
The organiser chooses a flight the evening before. The supplier confirms baggage for two cameras and lights. If the flight is cancelled, the contingency contact decides between a later flight and a reduced plan, and the organiser is told by phone.

Plan crew arrival for our Limbang eventCommon questions
Does reaching Limbang involve Brunei?
Sarawak Tourism notes that Limbang lies between two parts of Brunei, so overland travel to other parts of Sarawak is likely to cross Brunei. Flying avoids this. Decide the route first, then check the requirements for it.
How do crews fly in?
The Ministry of Transport lists Limbang Airport about 4.8 km from town, with a 1,500 metre runway used by ATR72 aircraft operated by MASWings. Operators and timetables change, so confirm the schedule for your date.
Who checks border requirements?
The traveller and the supplier, using current official sources for the specific crossing. We do not give immigration or customs advice. For equipment, ask the relevant authority whether any declaration applies.
Should the crew arrive the day before?
For a morning or time-critical event, yes. Flights on small aircraft depend on weather and daylight, so an evening-before arrival protects the main occasion.
Is Limbang planned the same way as Lawas?
No. Routes and crossings differ. See our Lawas page and plan each town from its own venue and route.

Send us the final venues, the crew's starting point, your chosen route, the equipment and your essential arrival time. Our team accepts enquiries for Limbang and confirms travel, crew and timing in writing for each booking.
What happens next: You send your event details on WhatsApp. Our team reads the brief, asks what is missing, then confirms in writing whether the date, venue and coverage can be booked, with a quotation. Opening WhatsApp does not send anything, and a message is not a booking until both sides confirm.
