Name the island and property for each part of the event, and say whether anyone moves between properties. Ask each operator what photography and equipment handling they allow. Agree a fallback in case a transfer or outdoor session changes. We confirm the plan, travel and stay in writing.
The Perhentian Islands lie off Besut District, about 20 km northeast of Kuala Besut. Wikipedia describes nine islands, with Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil as the two main ones, and notes that the group was gazetted as a marine park in 1994. There are no paved roads or airstrips. For the state overview, see Terengganu, and for the mainland side see Besut and Jerteh.
Which island and property?
Please do not treat every island venue as interchangeable. Each property has its own beach, rooms, rules and arrival point. For every part of the event, tell us the island, the property and the exact space, and note whether guests or the crew must move between properties.
What do transfers mean for the plan?
Access is mainly by speedboat from Kuala Besut. Luggage limits, boarding times and sea conditions affect when the crew arrives and how equipment is carried. We do not state boat times. Ask the operator for current terms and share them with us.
Our guide on island events with boat or ferry transfers explains what to check, and crew accommodation and arrival planning covers the stay.
What do operators control?
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| May an outside photographer work on site? | Access is controlled by the property |
| Which beach or indoor spaces are allowed? | Light and privacy differ |
| How is equipment handled and stored? | Salt, sand and moisture are risks |
| Are drones or extra lights allowed? | Ask the operator and the relevant authority |
We plan around written answers, not assumptions.
Seasons and fallback
Wikipedia reports a heavy monsoon from about November to February, when most resorts and ferries stop. Confirm that your property runs on your dates. A coverage plan should survive a changed transfer or a rained-off outdoor session without missing the main occasion.
Write down which moment has priority, who decides, and where the sheltered alternative is. Our outdoor alternative plan helps, and the cost worksheet keeps transfers, stay and delay as separate lines.
One cluster, not one page per island
We treat the Perhentian Islands as one destination cluster. If your event has a distinct task on one island, tell us and we plan it specifically. We do not assume what is possible on an island you have not named.
An example
For example, imagine a small wedding party on Perhentian Kecil, with a welcome dinner at one property and a ceremony on a beach at another. The host lists both properties, books the boat for guests and crew, and learns the second property's rules for outside photographers.
The quotation shows the dinner, the ceremony and the transfer between them as separate lines, with a written fallback that moves the ceremony to a covered area if needed.
Looking after equipment
Salt air, sand and sudden rain are hard on cameras. Ask each property where equipment can be stored dry, whether there is power for charging and how bags are carried between boat and room. Heavy cases may be limited on small boats, so we may need to pack lighter and confirm what the operator allows.
This is also a reason to allow more time on arrival. A crew that reaches the island with little margin has less room to adjust to light or a late programme. Tell us the earliest the crew can realistically be on site, and we plan the first photographs from there.
What do we need from you?
Send island and property names, any inter-property transfers, the event sequence, equipment needs and who covers the crew's stay. Our team accepts enquiries for this area and confirms travel and crew in writing for each booking.
Checklist
- Name the island and property for each stage.
- Note any movement between properties.
- Confirm transfer bookings and luggage terms.
- Ask each operator what photography is allowed.
- Check equipment handling at each location.
- Write a fallback for a changed transfer.
- Say who is responsible for the crew's stay.
Send us the island and property names, any transfers between them, your programme and who covers the crew's stay, and we will say in writing how we would plan it.
Plan our Perhentian eventCommon questions
Are Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil the same for planning?
No. They are separate islands with different properties, beaches and transfers. Tell us which island and property host each part of your event, so we can check access and travel for that place.
How do we reach the islands?
Wikipedia says access is mainly by speedboat from the Kuala Besut jetty, and the islands have no paved roads. Ask your property for current transfer terms, including luggage, and send them to us.
Can the plan survive a changed transfer?
Only if you agree a fallback in advance. Say which moment has priority, who decides and what happens to the crew's stay. We note this in the quotation.
Is the island open all year?
Do not assume so. Wikipedia reports a heavy monsoon from about November to February, when most resorts and ferries stop. Confirm that your property and transfer run on your dates.

Plan our Perhentian event
Send us the island and property names, any transfers between them, your programme and who covers the crew's stay, and we will say in writing how we would plan it.
What happens next: You send your event details on WhatsApp. Our team reads the brief, asks what is missing, then confirms in writing whether the date, venue and coverage can be booked, with a quotation. Opening WhatsApp does not send anything, and a message is not a booking until both sides confirm.
